WHAT’S IT LIKE IN YEAR TWO?

Year 2 is the final year your child will spend in Key Stage 1. We will support your child to develop their confidence in the key skills they have learnt in reading, writing and maths during Year 1 and we will encourage your child to become more independent in preparation for the statutory end of Key Stage 1 Assessments (SATs). Year 2 study a range of interesting topics including Our Local Environment, famous artist Yayoi Kusama and the Great Fire of London.  Your child will also take part in our school Nativity and will have the opportunity to perform to school and to parents. This is fantastic for confidence-building and we know how much the children enjoy working hard to put on a wonderful performance.  Children in Year 2 also have the opportunity to learn all about samba drums and will have a music specialist teach them how to play them. This is a very noisy day but one which is enjoyed by all! Again, children have the opportunity to perform their composition to their peers and to parents.
