In Reception we welcome your child into an environment that provides them with opportunities to develop social skills, physical skills and help your child to have a better understanding of the world around them. At the start of the year, we will carry out the statutory Reception Baseline assessment. This will provide us with all the information we need to ensure we support your child and meet their learning needs. Throughout Reception, your child will follow the Development Matters curriculum, where they will enjoy a range of learning opportunities that will help them to make progress towards the end of year Early Learning Goals. Reception class have access to their own outdoor learning area, where they have the opportunity to explore the outdoors and enjoy the use of a range of outdoor equipment where they can ride the bikes, use the climbing frames and enjoy the outdoor mud kitchen. In Reception, our children take part in the EYFS Nativity and perform to the whole school and to parents. All Reception children participate in ‘Forest School Friday’, where they take their learning outdoors and carry out lessons in our forest area. We regularly invite parents in to participate in a range of workshops so please get involved where you can!
