At St. Martin’s we have high expectations of our pupils and we are driven to ensure they reach the highest standards both academically and personally.
To enable this, it is important to us that our curriculum meets the diverse needs of all pupils in our school and it is the job of our teachers to tailor this curriculum to ensure every pupil at St. Martin’s makes progress and achieves their full potential.
Values & Ethos
We want our pupils to leave us being the best they can be: with high academic and personal achievements, confidence in who they are, a respect for each other and with an ingrained set of values that will ensure they make a positive contribution to their community and society.
We believe achievement is about making secure and rapid progress and consistently and fluently applying skills learned to everyday situations. This way our pupils will leave St. Martin’s equipped and ready for the next stage of their education.
St. Martin's Learning
We have designed an engaging curriculum that meets the needs of all our pupils, setting high expectations for all, while sparking their curiosity and breeding creativity.
Consistent whole school approaches to teaching and learning ensure that children enjoy a progressive curriculum that always seeks to build on what they already know, developing fluency, accuracy and mastery.
Exciting theme-based topics ensure learning is relevant and engaging, helping children to see the connections and apply what they have learned across the full curriculum in real life situations.
This starts in our Early Years Foundation Stage and grows step by step through the rest of the school, developing strong foundations for all our pupils.
St. Martin's Support
The personal development of our pupils is a priority for us at St. Martin’s. Ensuring pupils feel safe and happy is as crucial as the curriculum itself.
St. Martin’s is a vibrant school with positive relationships between both the staff and children, and as such our classrooms and corridors are full of smiles and good manners!
Our pastoral support team is caring and approachable – parents and children alike know that there are always people to speak to if there is anything that worries them.
Our passionate team of teachers and support staff ensure that all pupils are effectively supported both in their personal development and their education to enable them to become successful and confident learners.
St. Martin's Opportunities
At St. Martin's Primary School we strive for our pupils to be creative and curious learners. To support this, we provide opportunities for our pupils to broaden their experiences, develop their love of learning and embrace the diverse nature of our school.
Pupils are able to showcase their imagination and learn new skills through the extra-curricular provision on offer at St. Martin's Primary School. We encourage our pupils through this to make new friends, develop new talents and broaden their horizons.
For a child to develop holistically, we believe there are many opportunities that are important for them to experience to help spark their interests in areas they may not have previously encountered.
We feel this is a key ingredient when developing inquisitive and creative learners.
